From the Superintendent

A whirlwind of excitement and anticipation has ensued for me since being named superintendent of Brock ISD.  Words cannot begin to explain the welcome our family has received from this great community and district. Every day, we meet more and more exceptional individuals that showcase the values, character, and culture of Brock.  We could not be more thrilled to be a member of this district and community.

As the summer months press on, we are feverishly preparing for the 2018-19 school year.  Brock ISD is officially a four campus district - Brock Elementary (grades Pre-K – 2nd), Brock Intermediate (grades 3rd – 6th), Brock Junior High (grades 7th & 8th), and Brock High School (grades 9th – 12th).  Thanks to your bond dollars at work, construction around the district is right on track. The new Brock Elementary School is in its final stages and nearing completion. Brock Intermediate and Brock Junior High are past the mid-point of their renovations and should be complete within the next two weeks.  By August 1st, all projects from the 2016 bond will be complete. Thank you for your investment in our school district.

Currently, preparations are being made to host a grand opening of the new Brock Elementary School for our community.  Please mark your calendars for Thursday, August 9th from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Come out and take a tour of the campus and join us in our celebration.

For the 5th time in 10 years, Brock High School is the 3A UIL Lone Star Cup Champions!  The Lone Star Cup is awarded to the top performing high school of each classification. Results are calculated based on district and state competition in UIL extra-curricular activities.  The presentation of the Lone Star Cup, by the UIL, is being scheduled for a date to be determined this fall.

This past Thursday evening, the BISD Board of Trustees convened and approved our annual school budget.  The total budget for the 2018-19 school year is set at $13,035,200 without any changes to our tax rate ($1.62).  Brock ISD, once again, continues to shine in fiscal responsibility. has awarded us a 5-star rating for 2018.  This is the highest rating that can be achieved in the state and is based on a balance between strong academic achievement and exceptional fiscal responsibility.  Brock is 1 of only 49 school districts in the state that received a 5-star rating. 2018 marks the third year in a row that Brock ISD has received a 5-star rating.

As our Nation’s Independence Day draws near, I hope your week is filled with red, white, and blue, fireworks, family and friends, and a thanks to the men and women that have served and continue to serve this great country.  From me, a very heartfelt “thank you” for putting your trust into our school district and allowing me to serve you as superintendent.
